We have been doing everything apples this week. We read about Johnny Appleseed, we did apple taste testing, we graphed our favorite apples, we made apple patterns, we made Johnny Appleseed hats, and we play apple math games! Ask your son/daughter which apple was the favorite! One of the favorite things we did this week was exploring our math manipulatives. Our exploration included sorting the items by color and size, lining them up, making patterns, and comparing and contrasting the different manipulatives. By the end the of week we were matching number cards to the correct number of manipulatives. Ask your child which manipulative he/she enjoyed exploring the most. We had a wonderful first two days of Kindergarten! We are working hard to learn new routines and having so much fun getting to know one another. Ask your child to tell you about the Hickety Pickety Bee song. We are working on learning the names of all our classmates. We also met Mr. Ressely, our art teacher, and Mr. Johnson, our gym teacher. On Thursday we tried out the new playground equipment. We LOVE it! I am so proud of everyone this week! Thanks for a great start to the school year.
